BRISL Organization meets with Vice-Minister Chen Zhou of the International Department, Communist Party of China Central Committee.
The BRISL organization recently held a meeting with Vice Minister Chen Zhou of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. The International Department, also known as the International Liaison Department, is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with foreign political parties and has conducted exchanges and cooperation with over 400 political parties in more than 140 countries. In January 2023, a high-level delegation from the Communist Party of China, led by Vice Minister Chen Zhou, visited Sri Lanka to promote bilateral relations and inter-party exchanges. During a one-on-one meeting with Yasiru Ranaraja, the Director of BRISL, the importance of China’s continued support for the Sri Lankan economy was discussed, as well as future cooperation opportunities and policy recommendations. Vice Minister Chen Zhou expressed his appreciation for the scope and informational resources of BRISL and discussed areas of cooperation under the Belt & Road Initiative.
His Excellency Chen Zhou, the Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee lead a high-level delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to Sri Lanka from the 14th to 17th of January 2023. The visit of the high-level delegation is the first official visit of the CPC to the island in the new year of 2023 and after its 20th National Congress. The CPC delegation met leaders of the Government and political parties of Sri Lanka, and hosted a briefing on the 20th CPC National Congress, to promote the China- Sri Lanka bilateral relations and inter-parties exchanges.
The International Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (ID; Chinese: 中国共产党中央委员会对外联络部; pinyin: Zhōngguó Gòngchǎndǎng Zhōngyāng Wěiyuánhuì Duìwài Liánluò Bù), better known as the International Liaison Department (ILD), is an agency under the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in charge of establishing and maintaining relations with foreign political parties. Founded in 1951, the CPC International Department conducts all-round, multi-channel, wide-scope, and in-depth party-to-party exchanges and cooperation with more than 400 political parties and organizations in over 140 countries, most of which are either parties in office or parties participating in Government.
Yasiru Ranaraja, the Director of BRISL had a one-on-one meeting with Vice-Minister Chen Zhou on the 17th morning at the Shangri-La Conference hall. During the discussion Yasiru Ranaraja highlighted, the year 2023 is a milestone of success as it marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt & Road Initiative. Adding to the discussion, Yasiru Ranaraja highlighted that, China as the biggest investor in Sri Lanka, it’s important to continue the cooperation and synchronise Sri Lanka’s development model and China’s Belt & Road Initiative.
Yasiru Ranaraja briefing about BRISL added the future cooperation opportunities and other policy recommendations from a wide range of subject areas to further extend its support to make Belt & Road Initiative a success and to bring a Win-Win model of cooperation under of the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative.
During the discussion Vice- Minster Chen Zhou extended good wishes to BRISL and highlighted the areas of cooperation under the Belt & Road Initiative and was impressed by the scope of the BRISL organization and its up-to-date informative sources of information and research on the Belt & Road Initiative.
