Belt & Road: Nine Years of Achievements

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was proposed 9 years ago. Since then, the number of participants has risen, with the Initiative’s prospects brighter than ever. The BRI has become the most comprehensive platform for international cooperation today. Let’s review the achievements of Belt and Road cooperation over the past nine years.

In 2022, China signed memorandums of understanding with Argentina, Nicaragua, Syria, Malawi and Palestine for BRI cooperation. China has signed more than 200 BRI cooperation agreements with 150 countries and 32 International organisations since the BRI inception.

Cooperation Projects : Several practical Cooperation projects have been implemented to contribute to local economic development and raise living standards.

by the end of June 2022, China’s trade in goods with Belt & Road countries had totalled about 12 trillion U.S dollars. Non-financial investment in Belt & Road countries had exceeded 140 billon U.S dollars. from 2013 to 2121, China’s annual trade with Belt & Road countries expanded from 1.8 trillion U.S dollars to 1.8 trillion dollars up by 73%. from 2013 to 2021 proportion of China’s non-financial direct investment in Belt & Road countries rose from 12.5% to 17.9% an increase of 5.4% points. 

Overseas Economic & Trade Parks

by the end of 2021, Chinese enterprises had invested 43.08 billon U.S dollars in the economic and trade cooperation parks of Belt & road countries, creating over 346,000 local jobs.
