BRISL's Inaugural Entry into Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP): Charting a New Era of Economic Information Sharing

The Second Assembly of the Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership (BREIP) recently convened in the vibrant city of Shanghai, situated in eastern China. During this important gathering, the assembly warmly welcomed BRISL as a new member of the BREIP, marking a significant addition to this information-sharing consortium. Among the key developments at the assembly, new leaders were elected to the BREIP presidium, and pivotal amendments to its articles of association were successfully completed. Yasiru Ranaraja, Director of BRISL, received the official certification as a presidium member of the BREIP during a special ceremony, signifying BRISL’s commitment to the partnership.

Representatives from approximately 24 member institutions participated in the assembly. Their discussions centered on exploring fresh avenues for the BREIP’s growth and their shared mission to contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

During the assembly, Maya Majueran, Director of BRISL, delivered a speech highlighting the strategic significance of the BREIP and commending the unwavering dedication of its member parties. he also expressed her gratitude to Xinhua for its pioneering role in nurturing the BREIP.

Notably, Mr. Fu Hua, President of Xinhua News Agency, emphasized the news agency’s commitment to strengthening collaborations with BREIP members to foster the expansion of the information-sharing network. Another pivotal moment at the assembly was the establishment of a BREIP liaison office in Shanghai, which is poised to provide comprehensive support to BREIP members. This support encompasses valuable resources, facilitating business exchanges, and organizing events, all aimed at enhancing the partnership’s functionality and efficiency.

Initiated by Xinhua News Agency in June 2019, the BREIP was conceived to overcome information barriers and promote global economic information connectivity, furthering the objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). In the rapidly evolving landscape of economic information sharing, the BREIP stands as a crucial vehicle for promoting international collaboration and fostering economic growth.
